WASC weekend Conference 2027

WASC hold a week-end Conference every two years. The next Conference will take place between Friday 1st October and Sunday 3rd October 2027.

The venue

Conference will take place at The Palace Hotel Buxton. Buxton is a pretty town in the northern part of the Peak District, formerly a popular spa town, and even boasting its own opera house. Find out more about Buxton here. Buxton remains a popular centre with a range of local attractions, including good pubs and restaurants. The Palace Hotel is two minutes' walk from the town centre, and was built in the grand style in its own grounds. It offers nearly 200 rooms with an excellent range of communal facilities, including the spaces booked for our meetings. There's more about the Palace Hotel here. Buxton is just over 3 hours' train journey from London (Euston), and a similar time by car. Spouses / partners are very welcome to attend, and there is plenty for them to do.

What happens at a WASC Conference?

Starting on Friday afternoon and ending just before lunchtime on Sunday, Conference provides the opportunity for displays covering the majority of WASC's collecting areas. On the Saturday afternoon the WASC auction is held live, and in the evening we have a group dinner. Conference also involves two nights' stay, with plenty of time for socialising at meals and in the bars. Typically 15 to 25 WASC members attend.

The programme will firm up during the year ahead, but the attached schedule for our 2025 Conference gives an idea of the pattern.

Offers of displays will be very welcome. Please email paul@redsite.org

Cost of Conference 2027

The headline cost will be £269, which covers 2 nights' single room and breakfast, plus the Saturday dinner, use of the meeting rooms and tea / coffee breaks during the day. It does not include lunch on Friday or Sunday. Double rooms are available on request, and it is also possible to attend as a day visitor.
